Commercial Art II class  (KC1081) follows Commercial Art I as the intermediate CTE concentrator course based on the California Career Technical Education (CTE) - Arts, Media, and Entertainment (AME) sector standards Links to an external site. and is aligned with the 2019 California Arts Standards Links to an external site.. Enrollment requires successful completion of Commercial Art I. Curriculum completion satisfies MVHS Arts graduation requirements and university A-G requirements. This class is dual-enrolled with Foothill College GID 34 Links to an external site. (Graphic Design Studio II) and gives students 4 quarter units of transferable college credit and a one point high school GPA bump.

This course will emphasize the manipulation of artistic elements, media, and competencies in and beyond the two-dimensional plane. Students will use a variety of media to create industry relevant two and three-dimensional works that are personally and culturally expressive and industry relevant. This course will cover client relations, the aesthetic and practical applications of design principles in art across disciplines, in architecture, fashion, and other creative industries. The CTE Industry sector Arts, Media, and Entertainment Links to an external site. curriculum relies on cross-disciplinary interaction and is largely project-based, requiring independent work and interdependent management skills. Success in this course involves broad, in-depth academic and technical learning and cultivates 21-century skills such as flexibility, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal skills.
