Workshop: Introduction Draft (Classwork)
- Due Mar 27, 2023 by 3:40pm
- Points None
Complete these steps in your small group today:
- Open the Rubric Links to an external site. and review the six Level 4 category descriptions. Focus today on the “Informed Angle” category; the angle must be firmly established by the end the Introduction.
- Share LastName_FirstName-Documentary Paper with each group member with
“Can Comment” enabled. - Examine one Intro Draft at a time. A volunteer reader needs to choose another group member’s Intro Draft to read aloud to the group. Read through once without interruption (writer, please refrain from explaining anything during the first reading—just listen.)
- Discuss as a group what is working well first. What hooked you about the Lead and made the subject interesting? What is compelling about the current conversation about the research issue? Who are the voices in the conversation so far?
- Discuss honestly what needs to be improved. Make suggestions and ask questions where confused or curious.
- End the discussion by discussing with the writer how they plan to organize the body of the paper.
- When you’ve completed these steps, move to the next Intro Draft and repeat. When completely finished, work on revising the Intro, drafting the body, outlining, or gathering/annotating further research needed.
